The RoHS EC Directive
The RoHS EC Directive 2002/95 EC (Restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances
in electrical and electronic equipment) draws its scope from the WEEE Directive.
It applies to products placed on the European Union market on or after July 1, 2006.
This directive aims to minimize the environmental impact of waste electrical and
electronic equipment by reducing the quantities of four heavy metals and two brominated
flame retardants which they may contain. Products falling under this directive may
not contain more than the specified limits of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent
chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).
This directive applies to those who import these goods into the EU, those who export
to other Member States, and to those who re-brand equipment produced by others.
Clarion's RoHS labels communicate the essential information as defined by this EU
directive.
