A Full "Sign System" Approach for Risk Reduction at Pools
The Clarion pool safety sign system uses a series of signs that explain, reiterate and reinforce the most important water safety messages. To help pool owners communicate the most critical safety messages meant to protect people from harm, the system uses a combination of:

  1. Properly defined sign content (conveyed through graphical symbols and text).
  2. Intelligent placement location.

On the pool deck: Safety cones reinforce and remind about pool safety in one of the most noticeable ways possible. The safety cone format draws immediate attention to its message, displaying warnings close to the pool, as well as at eye level of children.
In the hotel guest room: At-a-glance tabletop placards provide an easy-to-read first impression of the main pool safety educational messages. These placards are displayed in each guest room desk so as to be seen before even entering the pool area. For reinforcement, they can also be placed at reception areas and on tables around the pool deck.

In the locker room: ANSI-compliant signs explain the core safety messages in detail and provide a legal definition of an adequate warning, fully informing guests on what they need to understand to avoid injury at the pool. These messages are repeated and reinforced poolside, at the point of possible injury.

Next to the pool entrance: Composite signs with ISO-formatted graphical symbols are posted at all entrances to the pool, next to or on each doorway or gate. These signs introduce guests entering the pool to the most crucial safety messages, which will be repeated and reinforced within the pool area.

At poolside: A set of individual, colorful diamond signs use symbols and simple messaging to stand out, serve as a point-of-hazard reminder of critical safety messages, and to communicate across language barriers. As part of the system, these signs use the same ISO-formatted symbols as the detailed ANSI-style sign.
