OSHA outlines regulatory focus

Posted by Clarion Safety on 10th Dec 2009

OSHA this week gave shape to areas of emphasis for the coming months. The summary document, direct from OSHA, can be found here. The agency identified a number of topics it will focus on, including airborne infectious diseases, injury and illness recordkeeping, combustible dust, cranes and derricks and the adoption of GHS.Slip, trip and fall hazards also will get renewed attention.

The Department of Labor also outlined its agenda, and much of OSHA's and DOL's work runs in tandem. Check out the DOL agenda here, including a video replay and transcripts of Q&A sessions with a host of officials, among them Labor Secretary Hilda Solis. The topics that DOL and OSHA plan to cover will have far-reaching impact across American industry.

Resources: Enforcement clearly is being ramped up. While safety is always the best policy, make sure your safety signs, pipe markers and other markings are compliant and up-to-date. The staff at Clarion Safety Systems stands ready to help, and can tailor safety signs or labels to your own company's procedures or to the specific safety requirements of your product.
