Clarion's President to Speak on Water Safety, New Clarion Pool Safety Signage System
Posted by Clarion Safety Systems | 8th Feb 2012
When you or your family visit a resort, hotel, fitness club, or other facility with a swimming pool, is safety on your mind–that is, real genuine safety? If not, it should be. Why?
Water presents a very real hazard and risk to people who are unaware. The hard truth:
- 10 people drown every day in the United States (Source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
- Drowning is the third leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide (Source: World Health Organization)
Couple those statistics with these facts on the current pool safety signage that is in use today:
- Most pool safety signs have not evolved in the last three decades
- Nearly all pool safety signs do not comply with todays standards-based best practices
- Signs are typically text-only, meaning they largely go unnoticed
What this tells us is that water presents many dangers, and these very dangers are not being communicated, poolside, to guests. People are needlessly exposed to risk out of ignorance, increasing the likelihood for accidents which often end in tremendous costs to victims, families, and pool owners.
The solution is to effectively communicate pool safety hazards. Through the right safety signage, pool owners can inform their guests of the risks, so they can take the necessary precautions to keep themselves and their families safe. Clarion's president, Geoffrey Peckham, will be discussing this topic next week on Monday, February 13, as a featured speaker at the Association of Aquatic Professionals' first-ever Conference and Trade Show in Austin, TX. Presenting his seminar "The New Era in Beach and Pool Safety Signs", Geoffrey will share a new pool safety signage system developed by Clarion that uses symbols, color, language and repetition to universally communicate the most serious water safety warnings. Designed with Clarion's deep knowledge of best-practice standards, along with leading aquatics safety expertise, it's like no other signage that's on the market today.
Stay tuned next week here on the Clarion blog when we'll introduce our products, and give you more details on how this new pool safety signage system is setting a new standard in reducing water safety risk.
