Electrical Safety Signs and Symbols, Explained
The core electrical hazard symbol is a black lightning bolt arrow inside a yellow triangle, standardized as symbol W012 in ISO 7010. It communicates the risk of electric shock without a single word, which matters in facilities with multi-lingual workforces and visitors. Clarion signs pair this symbol with signal words and message text so viewers understand the hazard, the consequence and how to avoid it. High Voltage Signs and Danger Electrical Signs for Every Environment
High voltage signs mark electrical rooms, switchgear, transformers, fencing and enclosures where contact with energized parts can be fatal. The National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) requires field markings and warning signage for specific equipment and entrances to spaces with exposed live parts, and NFPA 70E adds arc flash warning requirements for equipment likely to be examined or serviced while energized.
