Then you will not want to miss our first training course of 2024, held February 27th to 29th, 2024 – with the option to add on an additional day of technical breakout sessions on the 29th.
At select points throughout the year, our team at Machine Safety Specialists offers live web training courses for machine safety and risk assessment training. After increasing popularity, we have decided to add more courses to this year's lineup – with our upcoming course in February designed to improve safety in facilities by increasing awareness of modern safety standards, enabling an increased use of engineering controls for risk reduction methods.
Like our other scheduled sessions, this training course will be online to enable easier attendance for those from long distances, and will be hosted live over Microsoft Teams. Participants will also be provided with a PDF file of training materials beforehand.
A Deep Dive on Training: Engineering Experience
Ken Hackworth, PE, FS Eng (TÜV Rheinland #12058/16)
Vice President of Safety Assessment at Clarion Safety Systems and Machine
Safety Specialists, will be the instructor of this course. Ken has more than 25
years of experience in industrial controls and functional safety systems. He is
a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and a certified Functional Safety
Engineer, as well as a member of ANSI B11 and the American Society of Safety
Professionals. Ken is experienced and certified in U.S. and international
safety standards, including OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, RIA, and ISO/EN standards and
specializes in machine safety engineering and compliance consulting. As a
trainer for OSHA, Ohio BWC and several multi-national industrial clients, Ken
enjoys training safety professionals, technical staff and business leaders in
the latest technology and safety standards for industrial machinery.

Enhance Your Learning with Technical Breakout Sessions
Back by popular demand, our team at Machine Safety Specialists will also be
offering technical
breakout sessions the day after the main training for different focus areas
which include:
- Industrial robot safety (ISO 10218 & ANSI/RIA TR 15.306)
- Collaborative robot safety (ISO/TS 15066)
- Advanced functional safety and control reliability (ANSI B11.26)
- Safety requirements for bypassing (suspending) guards (U.S. & ISO)
These sessions will be held on February 29th from 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and will each allow additional time for Q/A and further discussions. You can add these onto your general course sign up from the 27th and 28th. If you have attended any of MSS’s previous training courses at any time, you are eligible to sign up for the day of targeted technical breakout sessions- independent of the attached course.
Additional Course Information

accident investigations in more than 500 plants across the U.S., Canada,
Mexico, and Japan , Machine Safety Specialists will also be presenting real
examples and illustrations throughout the training course for participants to
benefit from.
