Notice Signs for Policies, Procedures, and Property Protection
Notice signs communicate important information that is not related to personal injury: security policies, hygiene procedures, housekeeping rules, equipment operating instructions and property damage prevention. The NOTICE signal word was formalized by the ANSI Z535 standards and entered OSHA's framework through the agency's 2013 update to 29 CFR 1910.145, which incorporated ANSI Z535's expanded formats. Clarion Safety's notice signs use the standard's blue header format, and our custom sign services make it easy to put your exact policy language on a compliant sign.
What Belongs on a Notice Sign
- Facility policies such as visitor check-in, badge and escort rules - see our restricted access signs
- Hygiene and sanitation procedures
- Equipment care and operating instructions
- Property and equipment damage prevention messages
The rule that keeps a sign system credible: NOTICE is never used for messages about personal injury hazards. If people can be hurt, the message belongs on a caution, warning or danger sign, matched to the severity of the hazard. Our resource on ANSI Z535.2 best practices explains the full hierarchy.
