Flexible Training Options to Fit Your Schedule

7th Nov 2025 Clarion Safety Systems

Machine Safety Specialists (MSS) is excited to announce the next live, online Machine Safety and Risk Assessment training class, taking place December 9–10, 2025. This two-day course is designed for safety professionals, engineers, technical personnel, and managers who want to strengthen their understanding of modern machine safeguarding and risk assessment practices.

Flexible Training Options to Fit Your Schedule

This open-enrollment web conference format allows participants from across the country to join in real time, interact with the instructor, and participate in hands-on exercises from anywhere.

Due to its popularity, the two-day class is offered continuously throughout the year, helping teams improve facility safety, reduce workplace hazards, and implement modern engineering controls for risk reduction.

Next year, in 2026, participants will also have the option to extend their training with a third day focused on industrial and collaborative robot safety through our Mastering Robot Safety training class. While optional, we highly recommend completing the two-day risk assessment course before attending the robot safety class.

Led by Ken Hackworth, PE, FS Eng (TÜV Rheinland) — Vice President of Safety Assessment at Clarion Safety Systems and MSS — this training provides a deep dive into machinery safety principles grounded in more than 25 years of real-world engineering experience. Ken is a certified Functional Safety Engineer, licensed Professional Engineer, and contributor to key safety standards including ANSI B11.

Your team will gain knowledge in:

  • OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, RIA, and ISO/EN machine safety standards
  • Machine risk assessments and how to apply them
  • Functional safety and control reliability (including B11.26–2024 updates)
  • Safe distance calculations and safeguarding design best practices
  • Lockout/tagout (LOTO) alternatives and safety interlock strategies
  • Legal and liability considerations for machine design and operation
