NFPA 704

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) maintains a standard called “NFPA 704: Standard System for the Identification of the Hazards of Materials for Emergency Response.” What exactly is NFPA 704? NFPA 704 provides an easily recognizable and understandable system for identifying specific hazards of a material and the severity of the hazard that could occur during an emergency. This identification system addresses hazards related to health, flammability, and instability that may result from emergencies like fires and spills.
