ITF-14 barcode labels are usually associated with asset management. They’re used to identify cartons or shipping containers with products that have UPC numbers. Manufacturers and retailers organize inventory with the help of the ITF-14 barcode. These labels contain 14 digits ranging from 0 to 9. The first digit is called the packaging indicator which identifies what type of package is being labelled. Digits 9 through 13 are the package identifying number. The 14th digit is the checksum digit. There is a thick black border around the symbol called ‘bearer bars’ meant to improve reading accuracy when scanned.
