New Training Opportunity for 2025 Robotic Standards Revisions

28th Oct 2025 Clarion Safety Systems

The world of robotics is advancing rapidly, and with it this year, the safety standards that govern industrial and collaborative robot systems. Our team at Machine Safety Specialists (MSS), a Clarion Safety Systems company, is proud to introduce Mastering Industrial and Collaborative Robot Safety, a live, three-hour online training class designed to help engineers, integrators, and safety professionals stay compliant with the newest ANSI and ISO requirements from 2025.

This class provides an in-depth look at the latest revisions to ANSI/A3 R15.06-2025, ISO/TS 15066, and ISO 10218-1:2025—three essential standards shaping the future of robotic safety.

About the Training

Mastering Industrial and Collaborative Robot Safety is a comprehensive, instructor-led program divided into two focused modules. It offers practical, engineering-level insight into both collaborative and traditional robot systems and concludes with a live Q&A discussion that allows participants to apply what they learn to their own work environments.

Class Details:

    • Duration: 3 hours total (90-minute industrial robot module, 60-minute collaborative robot module, 30-minute Q&A)

    • Format: Live, instructor-led via Microsoft Teams

    • Instructor: Ken Hackworth, PE, FS Eng. (TÜV Rheinland #12058/16)

    • Cost: $650 per participant

    • Next Class Date: February 12, 2026

This training follows our two-day Machine Safety and Risk Assessment class. While not required, we recommend completing the core, two-day class first. Bundle pricing is available for participants who register for both.

Who Should Attend

This training is ideal for:

  • Engineers, system integrators, and safety professionals
  • Maintenance technicians and operations managers

  • Anyone responsible for the design, integration, validation, or operation of robotic systems

Participants will gain actionable insight to improve safety and compliance across their organizations.

What You'll Learn

Collaborative Robot Safety

This module focuses on the unique technical safety requirements for collaborative robot applications. You’ll gain a detailed understanding of ISO/TS 15066 and ANSI/A3 R15.06-2025, including:

  • Foundational principles of collaboration and the shift from “collaborative robot” to “collaborative application”
  • The four collaborative techniques defined in ISO/TS 15066 and their appropriate use

  • Power and force limiting, speed and separation monitoring, and hand-guiding control methods

  • Specialized techniques for risk assessment in collaborative workspaces

  • How to apply biomechanical data to evaluate safe limits for contact between humans and robots

  • Validation and verification of safety-rated control systems and performance levels

With the rapid growth of collaborative robots in industrial environments, understanding and applying these standards is essential. This training equips you to design and validate collaborative applications that balance productivity with safety and compliance.

Industrial Robot Safety

The second module explores the new safety requirements introduced in ANSI/A3 R15.06-2025 and ISO 10218-1:2025 for traditional industrial robot systems. Participants will learn to identify hazards, implement compliant safeguarding methods, and validate control systems. Topics include:

  • The structure and application of ANSI/A3 and ISO 10218 standards

  • Performing and documenting robot system risk assessments

  • Safe robot cell design, guarding requirements, and access control

  • Interlocked barriers, muting, blanking, and perimeter protection

  • Functional safety requirements and use of ISO 13849 performance levels

  • Implementation of protective stops, monitored standstill, and enabling devices

  • Safe installation, commissioning, and validation procedures

  • Lockout/tagout (LOTO) for robotic systems and stored energy control

  • New requirements for cybersecurity in safety-related control systems

This module provides practical instruction on how to maintain compliance with evolving standards and protect both workers and equipment in high-throughput production environments.
